Bumper Repair & Replacement in Fate for Sensor-Equipped Cars
On a newer car, the bumper is a tech hub with radar, parking sensors, cameras and LED lighting tucked inside. We fix the cover and everything it carries.

Under the painted plastic cover sits an energy absorber, a reinforcement bar and, on many late-model vehicles, a surprising amount of electronics. Front bumpers often hold adaptive cruise radar, LED fog lamps and a camera, while rear bumpers carry parking sensors and sometimes blind-spot radar. A low-speed tap in a school pickup line can knock those sensors out of aim even if the cover only looks scuffed. Our Fate technicians scan the car, inspect the hidden parts and judge whether welding the cover or fitting a new one is the smarter move. Every sensor is reinstalled and calibrated or tested according to the maker's procedures. That way the bumper looks right and the beeps, alerts and cruise control behave exactly as designed.
Everything a Bumper Job Covers
A bumper repair covers the visible cover and the hardware behind it. Here's everything on our list.
Behind-the-cover inspection
With the cover off, we look over the foam absorber, the metal reinforcement and every mounting tab for cracks or bends.
Plastic welds from the back side
Splits and tears are fused from the back side with a plastic welder, then reshaped using controlled heat.
New cover fitment
When repair isn't the right call, a new cover is test-fitted, prepped and painted to match.
Sensor bracket replacement
Broken sensor clips and brackets are replaced, since a loose sensor can trigger false alerts.
Radar zone refinish limits
Paint over radar areas is kept within the maker's thickness limits so the signal isn't blocked.
Color-matched sensor caps
Parking sensor caps are painted to match and reinstalled so they look seamless and still read accurately.
Bumper camera and radar setup
Front radar and any bumper camera are calibrated to the maker's targets after reinstallation.
Lighting and fog lamp checks
LED lamps, fog lights and turn signals in the bumper are tested and aimed where required.
From Cracked Cover to Calibrated
- 01
Scan and remove
We begin with a diagnostic scan to catch sensor faults, then remove the cover. Anything hidden back there gets photographed and written into the estimate. We confirm which sensors and cameras live in your bumper and what each one requires. Your estimate lists the bumper work and calibrations together.
- 02
Weld it or swap it
Repairable covers get plastic welding, reshaping and refinishing. Damaged absorbers or reinforcements are replaced, as the procedures typically require. New covers are fitted before painting so they sit even against the fenders and headlamps. Sensor caps and trim are painted to match.
- 03
Reinstall and calibrate
All sensors, cameras and lamps are reconnected and the cover is mounted. Calibrations run next, followed by a closing scan to verify the systems report clean. We test parking alerts and driver-assist features out on local roads. Once everything passes, we give you a ring.
Why Bumper Jobs Belong at Our Shop
Sensors are part of the job
We don't treat calibration as an extra. It's built into the estimate whenever the bumper holds electronics.
Repair first, when it makes sense
Many covers can be welded and refinished. We replace them only when damage or procedures make that the better choice.
Finish that fits
A bumper should blend in with the car in gap, color and gloss. We check all three before pickup.
Is Your Bumper Sagging or Split?
Even light bumper damage from a parking garage in Rockwall or a tap in Heath can confuse the sensors behind it. Share the story with us and we'll map out what the cover and its electronics need.
